The hot new opening next month is the Shangri- La Hotel. Opening the 6th May, this hugely anticipated space is the last to open within The Shard and is set between the 34th and 52nd levels. This hotel will ooze sophistication, as the tallest hotel in Western Europe and the first high-rise hotel in London and level 34 is dedicated to events.
There are three river-facing event spaces which will offer a London venue experience like no other. With amazing views 125 meters above the city the largest of the spaces, Ren, will accommodate up to 140 guests and the other two, Yi and Li, will be able to hold up to 10 and 35 guests. The whole of the 34th floor can take up to 200 guests for larger parties and the grand staircase that leads down to the event floor creates a backdrop sure enough to wow guests on their arrival.
The hotel will feature three wining and dining venues. GŎNG, London’s highest bar on level 52, takes its name from ‘dougong’ – an ancient Chinese structural element of interlocking wooden brackets that will be a component of the bar’s interior. TĪNG, derived from the Chinese word for a living room, is the signature restaurant and lounge on level 35 and LÁNG – the Chinese word for ‘pathway’ – is an artisan deli on the ground floor.
A unique 550 capacity venue, Steam and Rye is modelled on America’s gilded age and a time of glamour in the old Bank of New York building in the City. The Main Hall is modeled on New York’s Grand Central Station, with a classic Americana theme, large Grand Central clock, stage and steam train carriages as booths. This main space can take up to 350 standing for private events. The Cargo Hold is a private space for up to 75 guests standing or 40 seated, and is full of quirky treasures from around the world, this space is one for entertaining guests.
Finally the basement 1st Class Cocktail Carriage is a luxurious retreat whilst crossing continents. Rich sumptuous velvet and intimate leather-lined booths (seating 12) create an opulent den to savour extraordinary and exotic cocktails from the richly-laden bar. Ideal for private parties and outlaws hideouts for up to 70 guests.
The Bloomsbury Ballroom is a historical twenties Art Deco Venue with original features of high ceilings, sprung flooring and an opulent stage area. An exquisite and unique space for any occasion, accommodating up to 880 standing and 330 seated. This really is a unique central London venue restored to its former grandeur, extensively refurbished and the buildings neo-classical façade dominates the entire east side of Bloomsbury Square.
Available as a large empty space for dry hire, or an array of events from intimate cocktail parties to large gala dinners and conferences.
