Restaurant tycoon Richard Caring (of Caprice Holdings) has bought his winning formula to Berkeley Square with this Asian-inspired fish and seafood venture, sassily named Sexy Fish. The chef behind the menu is young Brit Ben Orpwood (previously of Zuma Istanbul and Dubai, as well as plenty of cheffing experience in Sydney), turning out dishes including Isle of Man Queenie scallops with ponzu and yuzu ‘snow’, as well as ‘Japrese’ salads of tomato, marinated tofu, shiso and sherry vinegar. Beyond the giant neon shark hoarding currently outside, the 190-cover restaurant has been designed by Martin Brudnizki, who is having a moment as the man behind the glittering new interior of Caprice Holdings’ legendary venue the Ivy. You will find an incorporation of artworks from the likes of Frank Gehry (his fish lamps feature prominently) and Damien Hirst, who designed the two bronze mermaids that bookend the bar. Elsewhere, the basement is home to The Coral Reef private dining room, with room for 48 and the world’s largest live coral reef tank.
